Reliable access, every week.
Patients with kidney failure require dialysis, an artificial process of removing excess fluids and toxins from the blood usually eliminated by the kidneys.
The access is placed surgically and can be positioned in the arm or leg. Blood is removed, purified by a dialysis machine, and returned to the body. Preparation typically takes several weeks to months.
Advanced Vascular offers minimally invasive outpatient procedures to maintain and manage vascular access, customizing treatment plans with cutting edge techniques.
Board certified, outpatient.
Skilled, experienced dialysis access placement and treatment in an outpatient setting with compassionate care.
Fifteen ways to keep access working.
From access creation and maintenance to salvage and emergency intervention, Dr. Banerjee performs the full range of ASDIN level procedures in our Albuquerque clinic. If you are not sure whether yours needs attention, read the warning signs of a failing fistula or graft.
-
01
Preoperative Vascular Ultrasound
Ultrasound of arm blood vessels helps determine optimal placement for access creation.
-
02
Angiogram / Fistulagram
An X ray may be taken to diagnose the cause of the problem. A contrast agent is injected.
-
03
Balloon Angioplasty
A balloon catheter is inserted through the graft or the fistula and carefully inflated to dilate the narrowed area.
-
04
Stent Placement
A small and flexible metallic mesh tube is implanted to keep the graft or blood vessel open.
-
05
Fistula Maturation
Also called Balloon Angioplasty Maturation (BAM). Addresses slow maturation after fistula creation. Procedures may span 4 to 6 weeks.
-
06
Thrombectomy / Declot
Removes blood clots blocking access flow, potentially using clot dissolving medicine.
-
07
Fistula Collateral Vein Ligation
Blocks small vein branches draining blood from the fistula using sutures or coils.
-
08
Tunneled Dialysis Catheter Insertion
The dialysis catheter is inserted into one of the veins in the neck or groin and then tunneled under the skin.
-
09
Tunneled Catheter Exchange and Removal
Replaces malfunctioning catheters or removes them when no longer needed.
-
10
Temporary Catheter Insertion
Short term catheters placed for dialysis access lasting only days.
-
11
Vein Mapping
Uses ultrasound or IV dye to view the veins in the arms or chest to help a vascular specialist plan the placement.
-
12
Minimally Invasive Fistula Creation
Create a new AVF in upper arm without any surgery or surgical scars. No stitches and you can go home the same day.
-
13
Peritoneal Catheter Insertion, Manipulation or Removal
Placement through the abdomen for peritoneal dialysis. Removal if discontinued or infected.
-
14
Inflow Banding for Steal Syndrome
Steal syndrome occurs when there is insufficient blood flow to the hand due to the diversion of arterial blood. Banding restores flow.
-
15
Access Ultrasound
Examines whether access is maturing or identifies problems early.
